PDF Checklist
PDF CheckList — for 4-color printing
BEFORE you generate your press-ready pdf:
» Confirm final page TRIM SIZE — and total number of pages (time to review headers, footers and folios throughout)
» Check each page for BLEED — usually. 125″ (1/8″) all around
» Check document COLOR USAGE to see that only CMYK are used
» Make sure each PLACED RASTER IMAGE/LINK is: CMYK with a resolution of 300dpi at 100% size; Black & White must be saved in GRAY SCALE; Line art must be Bitmap at least 900dpi; saved as .tif or .eps files — NO compression
» Check to see that each VECTOR FILE is set up as CMYK: NO RGB, Index or spot color anywhere Check that all placed images and fonts are fully embedded: Convert fonts to outline.
» Make sure none of the images are missing or modified.
» Make sure that there are no document fonts missing.
» Make sure document uses only the individual fonts loaded in the font menu. Replaced any fonts made using the type palette with the correct type style. (It looks fine on screen and in laser prints, but won’t output correctly.)
» SAVE the file and you’re ready to make press pdf.
